Research assistant with focus on data management in Digital Farming

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Research in the area of data management in Digital Farming. This may include research into typical patterns in data processing, data availability for AI applications and system interoperability for data exchange.
  • Participation in the establishment of an Ag-Data Management Lab for the rapid potential assessment of innovative ideas on what can be done with data in the field of Digital Farming and which technical hurdles have to be overcome.
  • Participation in the acquisition of third-party funding projects (public and industry)
  • Assist with teaching in the context of Digital Farming

Our requirement profile:

  • Scientific university degree (master, diploma or comparable) in the field of computer science or other technical subjects

Research assistant with focus on user experience and explainable AI in Digital Farming

Your responsibilities include:

  • Research in the area of UX and end-user acceptance, i.e. how to increase the acceptance of AI-based Digital Farming solutions among farmers. In particular, you will contribute to a Carl Zeiss project in the context of "Sustainable Embedded AI" and evaluate the impact of different explainability approaches for AI components on end-user acceptance. Focus topics include, for example:
    • Gain of knowledge whether or in which way different approaches to the explainability of AI lead to a measurable change in acceptance
    • Gain of knowledge if/how explainability is embedded in the decomposition of the system qualities (i.S.: ISO 25010 standard) or interacts with their qualities
  • Participation in the acquisition of third-party funding projects (public and industry)
  • Teaching support in the context of Requirements Engineering or Digital Farming

Research assistant with focus on Data Management for Sustainable Dairy Production in Digital Farming

Your responsibilities include:

  • Research in the field of data management in Digital Farming. This includes, for example, the aggregation of data from different sources for a dashboard of milk production.
  • Concepts and prototypical implementations for networking systems in the value chain
  • Collaborate with representatives from BASF, John Deere, and farms to understand their requirements and collaboratively design data visualization solutions.
  • Support in the design, implementation and analysis of experiments and field trials in the field of sustainable and local production of milk.
  • Participation in the acquisition of third-party funding projects (public and industry)
  • Integration into teaching in the context of Digital Farming
